College Top 50 Prospects (2017)

The college baseball season is set to open up in less than 2 months, I thought it would be nice to see what this spring’s best looked like if put into a list of the top 50 2017 draft eligible players would look like.

The top 5 notes to discuss off the top would be:¬†1. RHP dominate for the most tallies at a position, 2. the SEC and ACC are the two conferences to watch this season, 3. UNC and South Carolina would be determined “loaded” if we base everything off this top 50 list.

Kyle Wright has been consistently listed #1 across many lists predicting next year’s draft and top elligible prospects. Currently I am going against the grain, with little backing from history, but enough backing off talent alone. Alex Faedo to me is my top pick for this current edition of my top 50. Faedo a 6’5 RHP who went quietly 13-3 with 133 strikeouts for the Florida Gators last spring. Faedo then followed up his impressive spring with a summer stint on USA’s College National team where the Right Hander started 4 games, gave up 1 run in 16 innings with 21 k’s and 3 bb’s.

Breaking down the overall top 50 would fall into two power 5 conferences. The SEC has 17 players listed below followed by the ACC with 13. South Carolina led the SEC with 4 players and North Carolina led all teams with 5 players.

I plan to update this as we continue to approach the 2017 Spring season, but for now please enjoy my top 50 list! Posted 12/7/16. Update expected February 1st 2017.
